I was given a very unique commission to make a star from wood formed by interlocking triangles. The client had seen it in her imagination and could not tell me much more of what she wanted other than it resembled a Chinese wooden puzzle. I have an inquiringly inquisitive mind and so set forth to create something. It wasn't all that straight forward making something made from the description of someone elses mind. I didn't really even know where to start. After sticking many lolly sticks together and failing at creating much of anything, other than a pile of triangular lolly sticks, I got a bit more 3D and made this.  This, though something, wasn't what I wanted so I delved into tetrahedrons. Which weren't as straight forward as they looked either. The joins were a right bugger to work out. I over complicated it all and when I finally worked it out, found it was much simpler than it seemed. There is a fair amount of thought in making them...

Was making boxes from pallets to use as Christmas hampers. Needed to make some smaller so instead of shrinking all dimensions, I just effectively chopped them lower making them trays. A happy accident. Gave them a tilt just to make them a little different and made a batch for presents.

Many moons ago I dabbled with Bullroarers. Got the notion again so made this from an off cut of oak paneling. Felt too plain so ended up carving it with a feather relief. Liked it so much I made some more! They sound lovely.

A commission using a broken slate hearthstone from the owners house. Built into the bank and supported with stone from a local quarry. Big enough for three people.

A gift. Made from wood off my local beach. Wanted to make it in a very different pose but couldn't get the pieces to work right. Ended up letting the pieces go where they wanted and it all came together much easier. Eyes are button off cuts.
